From the hunt for Holy Grail to the Proustian search for lost time to a scramble to find lost keys, quests are great drivers of narrative. The symbolism of the object, its importance to the main character, and the adventures and alternate discoveries encountered along the way — these are all central to quest narratives — but the process of looking for something is also a great opportunity to explore the place where this search is taking place.
