Maybe it's a little grody, but take a close look at a character's undergarments. What do they look like, smell like? Are they dingy or fancy (or what about both at once)? Do they serve a merely utilitarian function, forestalling the ill-placed abrasion of pants, trigger the ogling of louts, or perhaps lead to something more romantic or embarrassing?
